Thanksgiving Food Drive Ends Tuesday, November 25

All families are encouraged to contribute to our Thanksgiving Food Drive.

Please remind your child to bring in non-perishable food items by next Tuesday.  The food will be placed at the foot of the altar before our Thanksgiving Liturgy on Tuesday, November 25.

The food will then be delivered to the Food Bank Coalition before the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Thanksgiving Break is from Wednesday, November 26 through Friday, November 28. School resumes Monday, December 1.

PowerSchool Reminder!

The end of the trimester is rapidly approaching.*

Current grades are always available to you on PowerSchool. If your child is in grades 3-8, you have access to his/her grades 24 hours a day.

Students are also encouraged to view their grades. This will prevent any surprises at report card time.

If you have misplaced your PowerSchool access code and/or password, please email Jillian:  jiverson@omsslo.com for a copy of this information.

*Please note, grades cannot be completed and report cards cannot be finalized for any student until the family account has been cleared. If you have questions regarding your tuition/financial account, please call Katie Martin at 543-2165.

Conferences Are on the Horizon!

Student-led parent/teacher conferences are scheduled as follows:

Fall conferences are mandatory for grades 1-5.

  •  Wednesday, December 3: 1:30 – 3:30 PM

  • Thursday, December 4: 1:30 – 6:00 PM

  • Friday, December 5: 9:00 AM – 1:30 PM

While conferences are mandatory for grades 1 – 5, they are no longer required for middle school, but they are recommended if your son or daughter is having any difficulty in any of his/her classes.

For more information, and to schedule your student-led conferences online click here.

Volunteer Opportunity!

BJ and Jillian are looking for parent volunteers to sell scrip on Monday and Friday mornings.

Volunteers will sell scrip outside the office from 7:45 to 8:15 AM, or from 8:00 to 8:30 AM. You will be given one service hour per scrip-selling session.

Please contact the ladies in the office for more information or to sign up.

Christmas Boutique is December 15

We need your help in getting ready for the Boutique.

Over 2,000 items need to be crafted and assembled.  This is an easy and fun way to get all your parent service hours.  You can make things on your own.

Contact Megan Selby to get a kit to assemble at home, or this year we are also meeting to make crafts together.

This is a great tradition at OMS, and we appreciate all the work parents put into this event. It takes a lot of elves to pull this off each December, and we need your help.

Please contact Megan Selby at 704-3097, or email: selbymegan@gmail.com.

 OMS Extended Care Policy

There have been some questions regarding the after school care sign in.

Here are the requirements:

1)  The official clock for determining check-in and check-out time for extended care is the clock in room 9.

2)  With the staggered dismissal schedule, charges for care will not start until 3:10 PM. But at 3:10 PM, every student still on the school grounds must be supervised by a school staff member (a coach, a teacher, or the ASA staff). Siblings of students on a sports team must be signed in ASA. Siblings of students being tutored must be signed into ASA, unless they, too, are with a tutor.

3)  Students whose parents are meeting with a teacher must wait outside the classroom on a bench if  they are not part of the conference. If they want to play on the school grounds, they must be signed into ASA.

4)  Only adults listed on the emergency card may pick up students in ASA.

ASA telephone number after 3:45 PM is 548-0299

OMS Legacy Campaign OMS Legacy Campaign

We are pleased to share with you a new vision for Old Mission School, the development of a downtown satellite campus to serve our growing middle school population.

Recently, Old Mission Church offered to make available its share of a property on Palm Street, directly across from the Mission parking lot, for the purpose of creating a Middle School satellite campus only two blocks from the present school site.  The property is owned jointly by the Church and the Catholic schools of San Luis Obispo and presently houses the OMS business office. The new campus would be home to four new classrooms, a restroom facility, and an office and a teacher prep area.

For more information, please visit the OMS Legacy Campaign page.

Old Mission School Teachers are now Online and on Twitter!

OMS teachers now have individual wiki pages containing live twitter feeds with classroom updates.

Every teacher's wiki page will provide regular updates regarding homework assignments, class news, and important announcements.

If you have a Twitter account, make sure to "follow" your children's teachers. If you don't have a Twitter account, don't worry. It is not necessary for you to have one in order to view teachers' Twitter feeds - just click on one of the following links:

If you need to get in touch with a teacher, please continue to either call or send an email (we're new to Twitter and want to make sure we are able to get back to you in a timely manner).
